Our approach

What do healthy books look like?

Too often, we’re hired by clients facing financial trouble because they worked with an under-qualified bookkeeper with no initiative or shared vision. The impact of resuscitating a company’s health can be time-consuming and costly, especially if poor bookkeeping leads to tax penalties, punitive interest and missed deductions.

Highly qualified. Always reliable.

Hire the right people,
the first time.

The Peace of Mind team

Senior Bookkeeper/President

Lisa

I was just 13 when I saw first-hand the sacrifices small business owners have to make to succeed. From my father, an entrepreneur, I learned the importance of evaluating profitability.

More than 25 years later, those early lessons are still with me. I’ve witnessed the joys and stress of business ownership. That’s why I named my company Peace of Mind Business Solutions.

Of course, I didn’t go from teenage bookkeeper to small business owner in one step. I have been a bean counter for hire by publicly traded companies, done bookkeeping for mid-sized manufacturing businesses and spent many years working for one of the big four accounting firms. Wherever I worked, I realized that my driving passion was to help business owners who feel overwhelmed with the financial wellbeing of their business.

I have strong analytical skills and provide thought-evoking ideas to improve your record keeping, compliance and profitability. I have extensive experience streamlining processes to reflect best practice solutions tailored to individual preferences. I am a certified professional bookkeeper, certified ISO Internal Auditor and have completed Harvard Management Training: Process Improvement and Change Management.

Senior Bookkeeper

Donna

My official title is Senior Bookkeeper, but my real role is taking on a financial mess in hand and cleaning it up – then presenting clients with a before-and-after snapshot of where they’ve been and where they’re headed.
My foray into bookkeeping began about 20 years ago with my husband’s construction business. Since then, I’ve taken on office management at an insurance brokerage, office and finance administrator at a professional office and Finance Administrator at a private school. I have continued to gain experience and skills as Treasurer for a non-profit club and through continuing education.
I joined Lisa’s company in 2019 because we have a shared vision and purpose in what we do for clients. We have continued to foster a reputation of sound business practices, conscientious satisfaction of our clients needs and professionalism. These are my driving forces every day when I open the office door.
I live with my husband and two daughters in Carleton Place, where we enjoy everything the Ottawa Valley has to offer. Life is pretty sweet!

Emma

Emma has completed her Advanced Diploma in Business Administration – Accounting from Algonquin College in 2021 and is currently completing her bachelor’s at Nipissing University. She didn’t know what she wanted to do when she graduated high school, so she tried Biochemistry at Carleton University, but
found that she really did not enjoy it. Emma then decided to try accounting. Surprisingly, she enjoyed it quite a bit and is now slowly working her way into becoming a CPA.

She has spent two summers as a camp counsellor for children, leading and teaching them in various activities. Later, she spent several years in various customer service roles. She has also volunteered as Treasurer and Board Member of West Carleton Snowmobile Trails Association Inc. In her spare time, Emma enjoys listening to Canadian True Crim podcasts, playing video games, watching funny videos, and
attempting to draw.
